Hello readers,
I did not mean to drop off the face of the planet after the holidays, I promise! It has simply been a busy few weeks for Mr. Fiance and I as we got back into the swing of work, especially for me. (For the first time since September, I had a full five day work week last week!)
So Mr. Fiance and I have been working (and by that, you know its really me working right?) on some wedding to do's. Our bakery and DJ were recently booked. I am excited to have a local bakery with fresh ingredients doing our three cakes. It should be interesting to see how they turn out since we are modeling the cake on this design
We are not doing the big flower! Instead, our wonderful florist PoshStudios is including some spare "map flowers" for us to add to the cake. We plan on delivering the flowers and the map borders to the bakery about a week before the wedding. Our cake topper is still TBD because we cannot find one that suits both of us.
It is being slowed down by the fact that Mr. Fiance is a stickler on this one because he wants a Mario & Princess Peach cake topper. We have found several that we like but are either too cheesy or too expensive. There are some polymer ones on Etsy that we like but I almost want to have the wooden person style like in our picture so that it looks more aesthetically pleasing with the rest of our wedding atmosphere.
On the DJ front, I actually got a decent deal from one at the local wedding show. Of course, it still going to cost about $300 more than our budget costs but we know the DJ can make or break the reception. Hopefully these guys are worth the money and they can deliver the "show" they promised. They did give us a nice discount because they know our venue super well.
Mostly at the point, we are just finishing some paper projects. For instance, I started on our wedding program. Yes, this is highly optional but we want to communicate some things to our guests and the best way to do so will be through our program. Once I remove certain names, I'll post an image of it here for your all to see. FYI: I do plan on printing it on the same paper from the invitations and going to the same printer. This time, we are going for full color though.
The other paper project we are working on is our "Thank You" sign for photos. We are excited to put them on basic popsicle sticks like this
Last paper project we are working on: Rehearsal dinner invites. We know it seems silly but there are people we know who will need to be invited to the dinner. So I borrowed a poem from Pinterest and simply changed some information and the background image to correspond with what was in the invitations. Again, when I have made changes to the documents to reflect our privacy, I will be posting them.
With that, it is late. I need to be up at 5 am so I can report to work on time. It may surprise (or not) some of you to find out that I am a part time tutor and substitute teacher. Hence, why my schedule can appear sporadic and lots of things get done in a short amount of time. When I have a day off, like today, I go to town on projects and try to be as efficient as possible.
How do you make sure you are productive and efficient?
