Valentine's Day Wreath

Remember back a few months ago when I made that Christmas bow wreath? Here's the link to that post Tree Skirt and Door Wreath to refresh your memory. Well, I had three left over foam tubes. Rather than just let them sit, I put two of them to good use today. This posting is about the first one.

With the upcoming Valentine's Day, Mr. Fiance is preparing for his last one as a bachelor. I am preparing for my only one as a bride to be. I decided a few weeks ago to make a new wreath for the door - the bow wreath was getting old - and use some ribbon I had hanging around. Essentially the only cost to me this time around was the hanging piece I added, which was about $3.99 at my local craft store.

Here's a picture of the supplies you will need:

First order of business: taping the tube ends together. Since I had had practice with the last one, I knew how and where to wrap the tape a bit better. Instead of placing bows or tacky little hearts everywhere, I went with a ribbon option. I first wrapped the wreath with white ribbon so that the gray color of the tubing would not show through.

Then I went back around with the second ribbon - the white and red stripes and repeated the same process. I used simple and adequet amounts of hot glue to adhere the ribbon to the tubing. Lesson number two that I learned from last time, I only put the glue on the section where the duct tape was. This way, the foam didn't melt away and the items failing to stick. It worked like a charm.

The last thing I added was the "tacky" hanging piece that allows it to stand out from the rest of the wreath. I used some of the extra white ribbon I had and looped it through the metal heart piece. Using my super glue trick, I just adhered it to the same spot on the tubing.

Doesn't our front door look fabulous?

When St. Patrick's Day comes around, I will show you the results of the second wreath I made today. Any cool ideas you have for the upcoming love fest?
